Who writes for DateScout

All content on DateScout is produced by the DateScout editorial team — a small group of writers and editors with backgrounds in journalism, consumer research, and digital media. We do not invent named persona reviewers or fabricate "expert" bylines.

When we write "Our team tested," "We tracked," or "In our testing," we mean actual hands-on testing by team members using real accounts in real US cities — not synthetic data, not AI-generated summaries of other sources.

How we fact-check

Every numeric claim about a dating app (user counts, pricing, founded year, demographics) is verified against the app's own published materials, recent press releases, or established industry sources before publication.

Statistical claims about dating in general are sourced from Pew Research, the US Census Bureau (ACS), peer-reviewed studies, or publicly-released industry data. We do not cite individual influencers, anonymous Reddit threads, or unverified social-media posts as evidence.

What "reviewed by" means

Pages display a "Last reviewed" date which represents the most recent verification pass by the editorial team. During a review pass we:

  • Re-test app pricing and feature claims against current public information
  • Update statistics where new data is available
  • Add new app features if released since the previous review
  • Remove discontinued features or apps from active rankings
  • Verify outbound links still resolve to relevant content

Conflicts of interest

DateScout has affiliate relationships with several dating apps. When a user signs up for a paid subscription through an affiliate link, DateScout receives a commission. This is the primary way the site is funded.

Editorial rankings and reviews are produced independently of these affiliate relationships. Some apps we rank highly pay nothing; some apps that pay us are ranked lower than competitors that pay us less. This separation is reviewed annually by a non-commercial editor outside the affiliate relationship.

Reporting errors

If you find a factual error, misquoted source, or outdated information, please report it via the contact link in the footer. Verified corrections are made within 7 business days, with a note added to the article indicating what was changed and when.

Substantial corrections (anything affecting a ranking or numeric claim) are logged at /methodology for transparency.

User-generated content

DateScout does not currently host user reviews, comments, or forum posts. All text on the site is editorial content produced by the DateScout team.
